Binance Charity Foundation Gives $2.5 Million in Crypto to UNICEF for Ukraine

Binance Charity Foundation announced that it would give $2.5 million to UNICEF in terms of crypto for supporting their ongoing humanitarian efforts for Ukraine. The ongoing military conflict in Ukraine that was launched by Russia in the last week of February is putting a huge number of children at risk. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will use the money for financing its ongoing efforts for helping children and their parents in Ukraine, who are struggling because of the Russian invasion of their country. A statement from Unicefstated that humanitarian needs were climbing by the hour.

It said that the violence in the country had profoundly terrified many children and hundreds of thousands of people were fleeing. The organization said that a lot of family members had also been separated from their loved ones. According to Unicef, this crypto donation from the Binance Charity Foundation comes at a time when they need to scale up their efforts in Ukraine as well as neighboring countries that are accepting refugees. The goal of the organization is to reach out to every children that needs protection and there are approximately 7.5 million children in Ukraine.

The current focus of the organization is to ensure that they have access to healthcare and safe water, particularly in areas that are very close to the line of conflict. Local authorities are working with the Children’s Fund for providing assistance to families in need, along with psychological care and child protection services. Unicef’s Director of Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division, Carla HadidMardinisaid that they were relying on the support and generosity of the global business community to help the fund as well as its partners in reaching out to the children and their families whose futures and lives are hanging in the balance.

She also expressed her gratitude towards the Binance Charity Foundation for their assistance. The largest crypto exchange in the world in terms of trading volume, Binance had made an announcement last week about a series of humanitarian efforts, along with a donation worth $10 million for people in Ukraine. Binance Charity has connected with the Luxembourg Committee of Uniceffor working with the fund. The chief executive and founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao stated that the rate at which the conflict in Ukraine was escalating had come as a shock to the world.

He was also full of praise for the collaboration between Unicef and Binance. Along with these efforts, Ukraine itself has also been working on raising funds in different cryptocurrencies after Russia had initiated its military operation back in February. Non-government organizations as well as authorities in Kyiv have made use of crypto donations for addressing the humanitarian needs of the people and also for supporting their defense efforts. There has been a significant amount of donations made in crypto for Ukraine by people all over the world. Even Russians who are against the war have also donated, as crypto enables them to remain anonymous while making a contribution.
